Amanda Shelton - Director of Children's...God has been gracious to bless and protect me throughout my life. He gave me parents who were completely surrendered to Him and called me at a young age to follow. There are two types of preacher’s kids – the rebellious, crazy, wild ones, and the tame, obedient, well-behaved ones. I was the latter (with a few exceptions). Throughout childhood and as a student I was active in the church and from early on took leadership and teaching roles.

In high school and college I remember having countless conversations with Barry, who just happens to be my brother-in-law, about the church we would one-day plant together. It was a fun time of dreaming and planning and praying.

After college I spent a year overseas in Central Asia working to share the gospel with Kazakh university students. That year further equipped me to use my gifts of evangelism, teaching and leadership that would soon be instrumental in my role at Providence.
When I was trying to decide whether to stay overseas longer or come home, Barry told me to come home and work at the church with my family and do the job we’d been dreaming of doing. I joined the staff of Providence in August 2006 and began working as the Preschool and Children’s Minister in March 2007. When I’m not working, I prefer to spend my time outdoors running or mountain biking or anything where there are people and sunshine.

My Dream for Providence
I pray that this is a place where we can truly work out how to do life together. I want this to be a safe place to fail, to learn, to recover and to heal. I want this to be the place where I am trained and equipped to one day be a wife and mother and I want this to be the place where my family encounters God regularly through corporate worship and service.
