Baby Dedications
On April 26th during our time of worship we will have our next baby dedications . . .
why is this event significant for the parents and Providence Church?
When our newest parents stand before the church congregation on Sunday April 26th, they do so for a few reasons. First of all, our parents stand up to praise God for the lives of their children and proclaim His goodness for their births (Ps 113:9). Children are a gift from God and for that gift our parents and our church proclaim His goodness and provision. Secondly, they are committing those children to the Lord (1 Sam 1:26-28). Parents stand before their friends and family promising to raise their children in a home where Truth is proclaimed, Scripture is taught and the Gospel is preached in all circumstances (Ps 78:4). Thirdly, realizing the road before them is challenging and the weight of their responsibility is great, our parents stand before the people of Providence asking for help (Heb 10:23-25). God designed His Church to labor together and intends for His people to spur one another on, bear one another’s burdens and equip and sharpen each other. When our parents stand before the church congregation to dedicate their child, they are committing that child to the Lord and to the church and allowing the church to covenant with them to pray for them, fight for them and journey with them.
