Worship does not stop when you leave our church building, nor does it start when you arrive. When you first visit Providence, you may notice we look a little different then other churches. You may also notice that we look at lot like our culture. This isn’t an accident. We worship in a former car dealership that now looks like a Starbucks. Our music is reflective of some of the most creative music of our culture.  At Providence, worship is not something we turn off.  Ever.

As such, we take singing very seriously at Providence Church. We are a diverse community with many different perspectives. We are made up of many different upbringings and denominational backgrounds, but we are one body. In the same way, we sing one song as a corporate gathering of many different voices. We sing songs, not because they help us to worship God, but because they are the corporate expression of our worship. This is an important distinction.  Jesus, as our High Priest (Hebrews 9), is our help in worshiping God.  Jesus does for us what singing can never do; Jesus enables us to worship.  Singing does not enable us to worship.  Singing is a tool.  It is expression.  It is an overflow of our affections towards our God.  At Providence Church, we sing because we can’t keep from singing. We sing, not because we want to be moved. We sing because we are being moved. This is what makes worship real. This is the genuine worship that the Father seeks.
